The Role
We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Product and Process Technologist to take ownership of the development, optimisation and commercialisation of new and existing processes within the business.
This is a shop‑floor connected technical role combining process development, quality systems ownership, NDT oversight and close collaboration with operators, management, customers and research partners. You will play a key role in maintaining business continuity while driving innovation and growth into new and emerging markets.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development, optimisation and review of production and inspection processes, including NDT
Plan, execute and document trial work for new projects and product lines
Working with operatives who provide chemical etching, pickling, passivating and Inspection of parts etc to use within high integrity sectors such as Aerospace, Energy, and Automotive, you will be offering technical support and process improvement for the products produced by the operatives.
Implement and maintain a trials database to capture process learning, outcomes and agreed actions
Work closely with operators to understand current process routes and capture key variables
Propose process and product improvements aligned to commercial strategy, with clear routes to market
Assess market research and sales data to ensure technical developments are commercially viable
Support cross‑group collaboration within the company/group to add internal value
Maintain and improve the documented management system, supporting ISO9001, AS9100 and NADCAP accreditation
Line manage the NDT Technician, providing day‑to‑day support and developing capability and accreditations
Build strong relationships with suppliers, manufacturers and research/educational partners, including occasional visitsWhat We're Looking For
Ideally be degree qualified in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
Working knowledge of Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) methods would advantageous although not essential
Experience working in or supporting Nadcap‑accredited environments (desirable)
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a practical, hands‑on approach
Confident communicator, able to engage effectively with operators, management and customers
Highly organised, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Competent IT user (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Positive, proactive attitude with a genuine interest in process improvement and innovationWho we are looking for?
Candidates from a process metallurgical, materials, forensic metallurgy or chemical analyst/ chemistry background would be highly advantageous
