How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Introduction

    This is a key role responsible for leading our in-house social work team, ensuring high-quality, consistent practice and strong outcomes for young people across our services.

    About the Role

    KPMS provides residential and supported accommodation services for looked-after children and care leavers, focused on creating safe, stable environments where young people can progress towards independence.

    This role leads the in-house social work team and is responsible for maintaining high standards of practice, ensuring compliance, and driving positive outcomes for young people.

    The role combines team leadership with hands-on oversight of practice and safeguarding. You will maintain clear visibility of cases, provide direction where needed, and ensure that work is completed to a high standard.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Leading and overseeing the work of the social work team

    * Ensuring all young people have clear, progressing plans and measurable outcomes

    * Maintaining high standards of recording, compliance and audit readiness

    * Acting as the organisation’s Designated Safeguarding Lead

    * Providing oversight and challenge to ensure quality and consistency of practice

    Key Candidate Attributes

    * Confident and capable social worker with strong practice foundations

    * Able to make decisions and take accountability for outcomes

    * Organised and able to manage competing priorities

    * Reflective in approach, with the ability to support others to develop their practice

    * Strong understanding of safeguarding and risk

    What the Role Requires

    * Confidence in making decisions and holding accountability

    * Ability to oversee multiple cases and maintain clear visibility of progress

    * Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

    * Ability to support and challenge staff to improve practice

    * A structured and consistent approach to managing workload and priorities

    Experience and Qualifications

    *

    Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration - any applicants without a Social Work qualification and registration (or pending) will not be considered

    * Post-qualification experience working with young people

    * Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience

    * Experience managing complex cases

    * Experience supporting or guiding other practitioners

    Salary & Benefits

    * £45,000 – £55,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

    * Sociable hours and no weekend or shift work
