How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Assessor Motor Vehicle – Temporary – 14 hours pw – Broxbourne - £30.25 per hour

    We are recruiting for a temporary Assessor for Motor Vehicle to work at Hertford Regional College as part of the Apprenticeships Team, based at the Broxbourne Campus with some travel offsite. The Assessor of Motor Vehicle will help deliver an outstanding learner experience and be inspirational to students at HRC’s state of art facilities in Broxbourne.

    The Motor Vehicle Assessor will report into the Head of Apprenticeships and will support the successful enrolment, delivery, training, and achievements, via the application of effective teaching, learning and assessment practices for all apprentices within their given caseload. They will ensure all apprentices achieve timely and overall outcomes on Apprenticeship standards within Motor Vehicle.

    The role will be mainly based at HRC’s Broxbourne Campus but also includes teaching online and assessing at Employers’ place of work in and around Hertfordshire and North London for Level 1 and 2 Motor Vehicle apprentice.

    Typically, the Motor Vehicle Assessor role encompasses 14 hours of work over 2 days per week (with some flexibility on working pattern). There may be the opportunity for additional hours in 2026 subject to growing learner enrolment on the Level 3 course.

    This role is all-year-round and ideally, we would like to appoint someone to start ASAP. The successful candidate will be employed on a Temporary Contract basis via Herts Resourcing Group. The rate of pay is £30.25 per hour, including holiday pay.

    The role is based at HRC Broxbourne 1 day per week (not necessary every week) and then offsite in North London/Herts and hybrid home working.

    About You

    We are seeking an individual who is passionate about supporting learners in developing their knowledge, practical skills and deliver functional skills programmes of teaching, learning, assessment and student support.

    You will support the successful attainment of apprentices, via the application of effective teaching and assessment practices, of timely outcomes for learners on Apprenticeship programmes within the identified subject area / specialism (Motor Vehicle).

    You will be qualified to NVQ Level 3 or above in Motor Vehicle; ideally you will have an assessor’s award and/or an Internal Verifier Award (TAQA). End Point Assessment would be highly desirable. You will possess GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above or a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy.

    You will have occupational industry experience in Motor Vehicle and have knowledge of current working practices, legislation, occupational competency structures and/or requirements.

    You will have high ethical and professional standards, good interpersonal skills, good organisational / administrative skills, be willing to work flexibly to support learners in the workplace – occasionally work irregular or unsocial hours, be professional and reliable with good time management skills and you will own a car and have a full clean driving licence and car available for business use.

    The successful candidate will have to complete the HRG Compliance Process, which is

    * In person ID and Proof of Address verification appointment at Ware/Broxbourne Campus

    * Enhanced DBS application - administrated by HRG but at a cost of £65.20 (unless you already hold an enhanced DBS on the update service)

    * 2 years of professional/character references taken and verified

    * Several Online Training Modules sent out to you as stipulated by HRC

    *All positions are subject to a DBS clearance check*
