Embedded Software Engineer - Verification & Validation

Our client, a leading company in the defence and security sector, is seeking an Embedded Software Verification and Validation Engineer to join their Real-Time Embedded software department. This is a permanent position that offers a fantastic opportunity to work on some of the world's most sophisticated defence systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Taking requirements and developing them into robust test cases
Preparing and executing tests, capturing data, and delivering actionable feedback
Working closely with project teams to ensure system components meet stringent verification and validation standards
Delivering verification and validation activities in an embedded software environment
Engaging in practical problem-solving and data acquisition tasks
Utilising scripting abilities to enhance testing procedures

Job Requirements:

Strong experience in Verification and Validation (V&V) activities for embedded software
Embedded software development experience using Ada
Proficiency in converting requirements into structured test cases and procedures
Experience working in a lab environment on electromechanical products running embedded software
Good working knowledge of the complete software engineering lifecycle

Desirable Skills:

Experience with safety-critical systems
Knowledge of standards like DefStan 00-55, DO-178C & DO-330
Understanding of Real Time Operating Systems
Model Driven Design experience
Knowledge of test automation methods
Experience with tools like DOORS, Engineering Workflow Management (EWM), Rapita Suite, Rhapsody, and LDRA
Breakpoint Analysis experience
Experience of Focused Code Reviews
