Animal Technician
Location: Edinburgh
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Contract: Temporary – up to 12 weeks
Hours: Full-time, including some weekend shifts
We’re looking for an Animal Technician to join a well-established scientific organisation
in Edinburgh.
This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on animal experience or laboratory
experience who is looking to develop their skills within a professional, highly regulated
environment.
You’ll play an important role in maintaining high standards of animal welfare, hygiene
and quality, while supporting the day-to-day running of the facility.
What will you be doing?
As an Animal Technician, your responsibilities will include:
• Monitoring and caring for animals, ensuring their welfare is always maintained
• Cleaning cages, equipment and work areas to strict hygiene standards
• Carrying out feeding and routine animal care
• Supporting weaning procedures safely and accurately
• Preparing and packing orders in line with customer requirements
• Following established laboratory procedures and protocols
• Supporting the organisation’s Quality Management System
• Working closely with colleagues to maintain a safe, efficient and professional
environment
• Other reasonable duties as required
What are we looking for?
You don’t need to have years of experience, but hands-on experience working with
animals or previous laboratory experience is essential.
We’re looking for someone who is:
• Detail-oriented and accurate
• Comfortable following detailed instructions and procedures
• Reliable, professional and able to work as part of a team
• Patient and confident when handling animals
• Willing to learn and develop new skills
• Comfortable working within strict hygiene and quality standards
• Flexible and adaptable to different tasks and processes
• A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential due to the
location
