How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Grounds Supervisor
    Full-Time | Permanent

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior Grounds Supervisor to lead the delivery of high-quality grounds maintenance across a large, prestigious and diverse estate. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who takes pride in creating safe, attractive, and sustainable outdoor environments.

    The Role

As Senior Grounds Supervisor, you will take responsibility for maintaining designated grounds and gardens to an exceptional standard, ensuring that all users enjoy a safe and welcoming environment. You will work closely with the Grounds Maintenance Manager, supporting the planning and delivery of both day-to-day operations and longer-term projects, including sustainability and biodiversity initiatives.

This is a practical, hands-on role where you will lead by example—working alongside your team while supervising and guiding their activities.

    Key Responsibilities

    Grounds Maintenance

    *

Maintain grounds and gardens to a consistently high standard across allocated areas

    *

Carry out a full range of horticultural duties including mowing, hedge cutting, planting, weeding, spraying, and border maintenance

    *

Support planning of maintenance schedules, plant care, and seasonal activities

    *

Identify equipment needs, arrange servicing, and report issues affecting grounds or machinery

    *

Assist with tree inspections and site safety checks, particularly following severe weather

    *

Contribute to sustainability and biodiversity projects

    *

Deliver training and share knowledge with team members, including trainees and temporary staff

    *

Collaborate with colleagues to minimise disruption and ensure effective communication across the estate

    *

Provide support to wider facilities teams where required

    Team Leadership & Supervision

    *

Supervise and support a team of supervisors, operatives, and trainees

    *

Organise and allocate workloads, adjusting priorities in response to weather and operational needs

    *

Set clear standards, providing guidance, coaching, and performance oversight

    *

Monitor attendance and support team development

    *

Ensure safe storage and proper use of tools and equipment

    *

Maintain a safe and secure working environment, reporting hazards and incidents promptly

    *

Step up to lead in the absence of senior management when required

    About You

    *

Proven experience in grounds maintenance and horticulture

    *

Demonstrable experience supervising or leading teams

    *

Strong practical skills and a willingness to work hands-on

    *

Good knowledge of plant care, seasonal maintenance, and grounds management practices

    *

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and weather conditions

    *

Confident communicator with the ability to train and support others

    *

A proactive approach to safety, organisation, and problem-solving

    What We Offer

    *

A varied and rewarding role within a large and unique estate

    *

Opportunities to contribute to sustainability and biodiversity initiatives

    *

A supportive team environment with scope for development

If you are passionate about maintaining high-quality outdoor spaces and leading a dedicated team, we would love to hear from you
