How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Start date: September 2026
    Contract: Full-time and part-time available
Ideal for: Psychology Graduates / those pursuing careers in SEN, mental health, or education

Premier Education are currently working in partnership with a range of secondary PRUs and alternative provisions across Manchester who are looking for SEND Tutors to start in September.

You will be working with small groups of pupils aged 11-25, depending on your experience and the setting. The role focuses on supporting learning, emotional regulation, and life skills, with opportunities to work across both academic and vocational pathways.

These settings support pupils with a range of needs including SEMH, ASC, behavioural challenges, and additional complex needs. This role is particularly well-suited to Psychology graduates or those looking to build experience in mental health, youth work, or specialist education.

You will be expected to support, plan, and deliver sessions tailored to individual needs, helping young people re-engage with education and progress both academically and personally.

The provisions have supportive staff teams and strong behaviour management structures in place, with additional support staff available in all classrooms.

    Responsibilities

Supporting a specific age group or provision depending on your experience
Planning, delivering, and assessing engaging and inclusive sessions
Supporting students with behavioural, emotional, and social needs
Creating a positive and structured learning environment
Working collaboratively with staff, external professionals, and families
Participating in staff meetings, CPD, and wider school life

    Requirements

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH / SEN needs
A strong interest in mental health, behaviour support, or SEND
Ideal for Psychology graduates or similar backgrounds
Ability to build positive relationships and remain calm under pressure
Comfortable supporting students with additional needs (personal care may be required in some settings)
Able to provide 2 references covering the last 2 years
Relevant training or qualifications (desirable but not essential depending on experience)

    Pay

£92.56 - £120.00 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

    Why work with Premier Education?

Work with an established, education-focused team that prioritises support and development
Access to training, mentoring, and long-term opportunities
Flexible work options (full-time and part-time roles available)
Make a real difference supporting vulnerable young people

    How to apply

If you have recent experience working with SEN or SEMH pupils, Michaela would love to hear from you.
    Please upload a full CV.

Applications without relevant experience may not be progressed.

The successful candidate will have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, in line with KCSIE guidelines. An enhanced DBS check will be required.
