How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Your new company
    We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Specialist Employment Adviser to support participants on the Connect to Work programme. In this role, you will deliver professional, intensive employment support to jobseekers who are voluntarily accessing the programme. Connect to Work is a 12‑month supported employment initiative for Sandwell residents, designed to help individuals overcome barriers and progress into sustainable, paid employment.

    Your new role
    You will provide a professional, intensive and outcome-focused supported employment service for people with a disability/ from a disadvantaged group.

    Your support will be aligned to either the Individual Placement and Support model (IPS) or the Supported Employment Quality Assurance Framework (SEQF), with a goal to find sustainable paid employment for the people you support.
    Employer engagement is a key element of this role, and you will be required to work closely with local employers to generate employment opportunities which match customers employment preferences.

    You will provide support, advice and guidance, and in-work mentoring to both the employer and their employee to achieve sustainable employment.

    What you'll need to succeed
    Applicants must hold a Level 3 qualification in Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) or an equivalent qualification in a relevant subject, such as Employment Related Services, Supported Employment Practice, or Careers. In addition, candidates must have Level 2 qualifications in both English and Maths, which should be clearly stated on the application form.
    The successful candidate will have proven experience of supporting people with disabilities, health conditions, or individuals from other disadvantaged groups into employment. This should include experience of delivering tailored, person‑centred support to help individuals overcome barriers and achieve sustainable employment outcomes.
    You should also have experience of working towards and achieving employment‑related targets, with the ability to manage performance effectively while maintaining a high-quality support service. A strong understanding of the barriers to employment faced by people with disabilities, health conditions, or those from disadvantaged backgrounds is essential, along with the ability to apply this knowledge in practical, supportive ways.

    You will also need to have an Enhanced Adult's and Children's DBS. If you do not hold one on the update service, we will run this check for you.
