How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Assistant / Junior Quantity Surveyor – Utilities / Civils

    Location: Havant (Office-Based)
    Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 + Training & Development
    Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm

    We’re working with a well-established contractor in the utilities sector who are looking to bring in an Assistant / Junior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team.

    This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with around 2+ years’ QS or commercial experience who wants exposure across the full project lifecycle, working within a supportive, close-knit and fast-paced team.

    The office environment is energetic and collaborative, so this would suit someone who enjoys being around people and being part of a team.

    The Role

    You’ll be working across multiple frameworks and projects at the same time, supporting commercial delivery across a range of works including water mains, repairs, smart metering and infrastructure upgrades.

    Day-to-day, you’ll be involved in:

    * Estimating and pricing works

    * Managing applications and valuations

    * Cost tracking and reporting across projects

    * Procurement and raising orders

    * Invoicing and financial admin

    * Supporting contract administration (NEC-style environments)

    * Working closely with operational teams and clients

    You’ll get exposure to the full commercial function, making this a great step for someone looking to grow into a fully-fledged QS.

    What They’re Looking For

    * Around 2+ years’ experience in a QS / Assistant QS / commercial role

    * Strong Excel skills (this is heavily spreadsheet-driven)

    * Exposure to estimating and cost tracking

    * Background in utilities, civils, or infrastructure would be ideal

    * Any experience with IFS or CEMAR would be a bonus

    * Strong organisation and attention to detail

    * A confident communicator and team player

    What’s On Offer

    * £40k – £50k depending on experience

    * Supportive team environment with real training and development

    * Exposure to multiple projects and frameworks

    * Clear progression opportunities
