An excellent opportunity for a Senior Traffic Engineer to play a key role in delivering complex highways and transport schemes. You will provide technical leadership, oversee project delivery, and act as a senior point of contact across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
·Lead the design and delivery of traffic and highways projects to time and budget
·Provide expert technical advice across transport planning, TROs, and local engineering schemes
·Oversee consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure quality and compliance
·Represent the service in project boards, stakeholder meetings, and public consultations
·Support programme delivery, including financial forecasting and reporting
·Contribute to policy development, technical standards, and best practice guidance
·Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight across the team
·Deputise for management where required and support wider service objectives
Requirements
·Proven experience in traffic engineering / highways design and delivery
·Strong working knowledge of TRO processes, local transport schemes, and UK standards
·Experience managing projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
·Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders, including elected members and the public
·Skilled in providing technical reports, advice, and evidence where required
·Relevant degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, or similar
·Chartered or working towards (desirable)
