An excellent opportunity for an experienced Principal Traffic Engineer to lead the design and delivery of high-profile transport and highways projects. This role offers a mix of technical leadership, stakeholder engagement, and project management within a dynamic local transport environment.
Key Responsibilities
·Lead the design and delivery of traffic and local engineering projects to time and budget
·Provide specialist technical advice to internal teams, stakeholders, and elected members
·Coordinate and supervise consultants, contractors, and project teams
·Support programme delivery across area-based transport and highways schemes
·Contribute to business planning, financial forecasting, and performance reporting
·Represent the engineering team across wider transport and infrastructure programmes
·Lead on Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) and development management input
·Provide expert evidence at public inquiries where required
·Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff
Requirements
·Proven experience in traffic engineering, highways, or transport planning
·Strong background in delivering local transport or area engineering schemes
·Experience managing consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
·In-depth knowledge of TRO processes and development management
·Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders, including elected officials
·Strong project management and financial oversight skills
·Relevant engineering qualification (degree or equivalent experience)
