About the School A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lambeth with a specialist Autism Resource Base, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). The setting promotes a nurturing, structured environment and works closely with SEN professionals to support communication, emotional regulation and independence.
The Role This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to gain hands‑on experience supporting pupils with Autism across specialist provision and mainstream classrooms.
Key responsibilities:
Supporting pupils with Autism on a 1:1 and small‑group basis
Assisting with personalised learning plans and behaviour strategies
Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
Helping pupils access learning in a structured and nurturing way
Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and therapists
Encouraging independence, confidence and engagementIdeal Candidate This role is particularly suited to graduates or aspiring professionals looking to build experience in SEN, including those considering careers in:
Teaching (Primary or SEN)
Educational Psychology
Speech and Language Therapy
Occupational Therapy
Child or Clinical PsychologyYou do not need previous school‑based SEN experience, but you should demonstrate:
A strong interest in Autism and inclusive education
Patience, empathy and resilience
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A proactive and reflective approach
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needsGraduates in Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies, SEN or related fields are strongly encouraged to apply.
