How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Network Engineer (Cisco, Palo Alto & Fortinet) Stoke on Trent

    Secure. Resilient. High‑impact networks.

We’re looking for an experienced Network Engineer to help design, deliver, and protect our enterprise network environment. If you enjoy working with Cisco technologies, thrive on solving complex network challenges, and have a strong interest in network security, this could be a great fit.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in building and maintaining a secure, high‑performingnetwork that supports business‑critical services. You’ll work hands‑on with Cisco switching, routing, and wireless, alongside Palo Alto and Fortinet firewalls, and contribute to a resilient, well‑architected infrastructure built on industry best practices.

    What you’ll be doing

Designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network solutions using Cisco technologies
Deploying and managing next‑generation firewalls (Palo Alto & Fortinet), including VPNs and threat prevention
Monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimising network performance and security
Supporting secure network architectures, segmentation, and high‑availability solutions
Collaborating with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams on deployments and improvements
Maintaining clear documentation, diagrams, and standards
    What we’re looking for

Strong hands‑on experience with Cisco networking (routing, switching, wireless)
Practical experience with Palo Alto and/or Fortinet firewalls
Solid understanding of network security principles and enterprise environments
Experience supporting VPNs, high‑availability networks, and incident/change management
Relevant certifications (CCNA/CCNP, PCNSE, Fortinet NSE) are highly desirable.
Because of the sector our client works in, they’re looking for someone who already holds active SC clearance, or who would be happy to go through the SC clearance if successful and eventually DV clearance down the line.

Lovely organisation that’s continuing to grow, they genuinely invest in their people and offer great opportunities for progression and development.
