How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    3 Year Contract

    Mechanical Design Engineer

    The Role 

    My client are looking to expand their Naval Engineering team by employing a Mechanical Design Engineer for a 3 year contract. Due to the length of the contract, my client would be taking your straight onto their ‘books’ and you will be paid PAYE. You will be supporting activities that contribute to the design and development of testing rigs. Due to the nature of my clients work with UK Defence customers, all candidates must be British Passport Holders. 

    Mechanical Design Engineer 

    Main Responsibilities 

    •Develop and design mechanical components and systems (Testing Rigs). 

    •Design for manufacture and assembly, ensuring quality of design information supplied for manufacture. 

    •Prepare technical drawings and specifications using CAD software. 

    •Collaborate with cross-functional teams including: Manufacturing, Engineering & Sourcing, as well as external sources to arrive at decisions. 

    •Support prototyping, manufacturing and assembly processes.

    •Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during design, production and testing. 

    •Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations and company procedures. 

    •Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and production. 

    •Write comprehensive engineering reports. 

    •Lead and execute design reviews with both internal and external stakeholders. 

    Mechanical Design Engineer 

    The Candidate 

    •Ideally hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineer – preferred but not essential. 

    •Proficient in 3D CAD software, CATIA V5 would be adventitious but not essential. 

    •Ideally have experience designing Test Rigs for rotating equipment. 

    •Knowledge and appreciation of rotating equipment and rotor dynamics is desirable. 

    •Strong communication, problem solving and organisation skills.
