About the Role
We are seeking a resilient and committed Behaviour Support Mentor to join a secondary setting in Failsworth from September 2026.
This role involves supporting Key Stage 3 students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, both in the classroom and on a 1:1 basis. You will play an important role in helping students manage their behaviour, engage with learning, and develop positive coping strategies within a structured and supportive environment.
This is a rewarding but challenging opportunity, well suited to someone who is confident working with students who may display very challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and in-class support for KS3 students with SEMH needs

Support students with behaviour management and emotional regulation
*
Build strong, positive relationships to encourage engagement in learning
*
Assist with de-escalation strategies and behaviour support plans
*
Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
*
Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment
*
Promote positive behaviour and support students’ personal development
About You
*
Experience working with young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour
*
Confident, calm, and resilient under pressure
*
Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
*
Ability to build rapport while maintaining professional boundaries
*
Background in education, youth work, care, or similar (desirable)
*
A proactive team player with a positive attitude
*
A genuine commitment to making a difference in young people’s lives
