How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    THE ROLE

    This is a role for a Quantity Surveyor who can walk in and take control from day one.

    You’ll be responsible for managing the commercial performance of external planned works programmes, with a strong focus on painting and cyclical decking across social housing portfolios.

    These are live contracts covering balconies, walkways, external decorations and associated refurbishment works where your ability to control cost, recover value and protect margin will directly impact profitability.

    WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

    - Full commercial ownership of external works packages (painting and cyclical decking)

    - Manage contracts end-to-end: pricing, CVR, valuations, variations, final accounts and cash collection

    - Work within SOR and BOQ frameworks

    - Drive performance across painting, decking and external refurbishment programmes

    - Identify and recover variations

    - Manage subcontractors and payments

    - Control cost, margin and cash flow

    - Work closely with site teams

    - Identify and manage commercial risk

    WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

    - Experience as a QS in external planned works or social housing

    - Strong knowledge of SOR and BOQ contracts

    - Experience with painting and cyclical decking or similar external works

    - Able to hit the ground running

    - Strong commercial awareness

    - Comfortable in a site-led environment

    - Strong Excel skills

    - Full UK driving licence
