How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Automation Tools Engineer (Contract)
    Inside IR35 - £550-£570 per day
    Cambridge Hybrid 2-3 days per week

    We’re seeking an experienced Senior Automation Tools Engineer to join a high-impact Automation Tools team on a contract basis. This is an opportunity to play a key role in building and scaling automation frameworks that drive reliability, performance, and efficiency across a complex hybrid infrastructure.
    You’ll work closely with Engineering, DevOps, IT, and Operations teams to streamline deployment and configuration processes, enabling robust system management across large-scale environments.
    What you’ll be doing:

    Design, build, and maintain automation frameworks across a hybrid estate and compute clusters
    Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, and GitLab
    Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines to accelerate and improve deployment processes
    Troubleshoot infrastructure challenges and implement automated fixes to enhance stability
    Document systems, processes, and best practices
    Support system availability through participation in an on-call rota
    Continuously evaluate and introduce new tools and technologiesWhat we’re looking for:

    Strong experience in infrastructure automation and configuration management
    Proven track record managing large-scale Linux environments
    Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
    Scripting expertise (Python, Bash, or similar)
    Experience working across hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud: AWS, Azure, or GCP)
    Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experienceNice to have:

    Experience with large-scale or multi-cluster environments
    Exposure to AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Codex)
    Relevant certifications
    Familiarity with Agile/Scrum
