How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

If you’re a Registered Manager who thrives on opening new homes, setting standards from day one and building teams that actually deliver, this Residential Development Manager opportunity gives you the chance to do it repeatedly - with real impact and serious earning potential.

At Compass Children’s Homes, this is a role where you take ownership from concept to completion. You’ll open new children’s homes, shape how they run, embed quality from the start, and then hand over to a permanent manager once everything is performing exactly as it should.

We’re a values-led organisation that believes all children deserve a safe, caring, developmental environment, and that invests heavily in training, supervision and specialist consultation. You’ll have the chance to open multiple new homes, grow your career and shape services that genuinely change children’s lives.

    What’s in it for you

Earn up to £24,000 bonus per home through a clear, outcome-driven structure
Opportunity to open multiple homes and directly influence service quality at scale
Work in an organisation delivering consistently strong regulatory outcomes
Full involvement in development projects from property through to operation
Autonomy to lead new homes your way while maintaining high standards
Clear progression through exposure to multiple site launches and leadership challenges
Your responsibilities as Residential Development Manager as Compass Children’s Homes

Lead the full lifecycle of new homes from development through to successful opening
Oversee property setup including redesign, build and fit-out against key milestones
Manage the full registration process with the relevant regulatory body
Run each home operationally post-opening to establish high standards and stability
Ensure delivery of safe, structured and child-centred care aligned to policies
Recruit, induct and transition a permanent manager and team before moving to the next project
What we’re looking for in a Residential Development Manager

Level 5 qualification in Residential Leadership (or equivalent)
Previous experience operating as a Registered Manager within children’s residential care
Strong track record of achieving positive regulatory outcomes
Experience leading new services, improvements or operational change
Confidence managing registration processes and compliance requirements
Working hours: Full-time, flexibility required to support project delivery and home openings

If you’re ready to step into a Residential Development Manager role and build, launch and shape high-performing homes, apply now
