How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Role
    We are recruiting for a dedicated and resilient Residential Support Worker to join a dynamic service supporting both children and young people across multiple provisions. This includes a children’s residential home (ages 11–15) and supported accommodation services for young people aged 16–18.

    The young people we support come from trauma backgrounds and may present with a range of emotional and behavioural challenges. Your role will be to provide consistent, trauma-informed care while promoting independence, stability and positive outcomes.

    This is a rewarding opportunity to build meaningful relationships and make a lasting difference in the lives of young people as they develop and transition into adulthood.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Provide high-quality care and support in both residential and supported accommodation settings

    * Build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people

    * Support daily routines, life skills and independence development

    * Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviours

    * Encourage engagement in education, training or employment

    * Work as part of a team to provide a safe, structured and nurturing environment

    * Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning

    Shift Patterns

    * 9:00am – 11:00pm plus sleep-in

    * 7:00am – 9:30am next day

    * Based on a 3-week rolling rota: approximately 7 x 24-hour shifts (including sleep-ins)

    Requirements

    * A calm, patient and resilient nature

    * Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a professional and supportive manner

    * Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle

    * Minimum 6 months’ experience working with children or young people (residential care, schools, youth work, SEN, family support or similar)

    * Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)

    What We Offer

    * Comprehensive training, including PRICE (Protecting Rights in a Caring Environment)

    * Opportunity to complete the Level 4 Children’s Residential qualification

    * Ongoing professional development and career progression

    * Supportive team environment across a range of services

    * The chance to make a genuine impact in the lives of young people

    If you are passionate about supporting children and young people to overcome challenges and reach their potential, we encourage you to apply.
