How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Behaviour Support Team Outreach Teacher
    Salary: MPS/UPS + (SEN allowance £2,786)

    Start Date: September 2026

    City of Birmingham School is a vibrant and inclusive educational institution dedicated to providing exceptional learning experiences for all pupils. We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher to join our Behaviour Support Team and help us continue to deliver outstanding outreach support to Birmingham schools. The COBS Behaviour Support Team is the traded arm of the City of Birmingham School. We are a team of highly experienced teachers with a track record of success supporting and re-engaging some of the city's most challenging and disaffected youngsters. We deliver tailored programmes of support and training to over 100 schools across the West Midlands, promoting positive behaviour management strategies and helping schools deliver first class inclusive practice. Due to increased demand for our service, we are looking to appoint a new, full-time member of staff to the team.

    What We Are Looking ForThe ideal candidate will have :

    Previous experience delivering outreach support to schools
    Experience in developing and delivering staff training
    Experience in staff coaching and staff development
    QTS and significant experience in supporting pupils with additional SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
    Flexibility to best meet the needs of purchasing schools
    Confidence, creativity and the ability to work independently
    Excellent time management and administration skills
    The role involves travelling around the city, so a full driving license is essential.
    Essential Criteria:

    Thorough and wide-ranging knowledge of effective SEMH and behaviour support strategies.
    A clear understanding of the SSPP and EHCP assessment process.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    Strong pupil management skills and the ability to support others with behaviour management.
