How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Description

    As the Mechanical Shift Engineer you will be tasked with the following -

    Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance to ensure the safe and efficient operation of production equipment across the paper mill
    Diagnose mechanical faults and breakdowns on a wide range of plant and machinery, including rotating equipment, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems
    Respond promptly to unplanned equipment failures during shift operation, minimising downtime and production losses
    Execute preventative maintenance activities in line with the site's CMMS and maintenance schedules
    Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed to a high standard, complying with site safety rules, permits to work, and risk assessments
    Work closely with production teams to prioritise maintenance activities and support continuous running of the paper machine
    Carry out fitting, installation, alignment, and repair of mechanical components
    Accurately record maintenance work, faults, and spare parts usage within maintenance systems
    Participate in shift handovers, providing clear communication on equipment status and outstanding actions
    Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency
    Assist in shutdowns, overhauls, and major maintenance projects as required
    Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained within workshops and plant areas
    Actively promote and follow health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
    Support apprentices or junior engineers when required and share technical knowledge across the shift teamProfile

    A successful Mechanical Shift Engineer should have:

    Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications, such as NVQ or equivalent certification.
    Hands-on experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
    Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills for mechanical systems and machinery.
    Knowledge of health and safety regulations in an industrial setting.
    Ability to work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    Flexibility to work on a rotating shift schedule, including nights.
    Good communication and collaboration skills to liaise with team members effectively.Job Offer

    Shift schedule: 06:00-14:00, 14:00-22:00, 22:00-06:00.
