We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Planner to support delivery of safety-critical rail infrastructure projects across a major London-based programme.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Rail Project Planner to work on high-profile projects including signalling controls renewals and GSM-R (Global System for Mobile Communications – Railway) transmission works.
The Role
As a Project Planner, you will be responsible for developing, managing and maintaining project programmes across the full lifecycle, ensuring delivery aligns with governance, safety and performance requirements.
You will work closely with project teams, contractors and stakeholders to ensure robust programme control and successful delivery.
Key responsibilities
* Develop and manage project programmes (Primavera P6 or equivalent)
* Deliver planning across GRIP / PACE / Pathway project lifecycles
* Provide regular progress updates, reporting and Power BI dashboards
* Track and monitor delivery milestones and programme performance
* Review and challenge contractor programmes
* Support cost analysis, forecasting and change control (AfP, NCE, CE assessments)
* Carry out risk reviews, mitigation planning and programme analysis
* Lead baseline and re-baseline exercises
* Prepare and submit programme documentation including CRFs and DSAS reviews
* Support tender planning and tender evaluations
* Attend programme, risk and delivery meetings
* Provide planning support to site installation and construction activities
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Project Planner within the rail sector
* Strong understanding of rail project lifecycle frameworks (GRIP / PACE / Pathway)
* Experience working on signalling, telecoms or safety-critical rail projects
* Strong knowledge of programme controls, risk management and governance
* Experience reviewing contractor programmes and managing delivery
* Proficiency in Primavera P6, Power BI or similar planning/reporting tools
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Desirable
* Experience in signalling or telecoms (GSM-R)
* Experience on London-based rail or transport programmes
* Knowledge of cost control and change management processes
