Bid Manager
Location: Based in Liverpool (Hybrid working - 2 days in the office 3 at home per week). Manchester is an option with the requirement to be in Liverpool each Monday.

They currently seeking an experienced Bid Manager to join their established team where you will play a central role in driving new business, strengthening client relationships and supporting the firm’s strategic growth ambitions.
This is a high‑profile, influential position within Weightmans’ Marketing and Business Development function, which spans business development, communications, CRM, events, profile‑raising and strategic projects.
The successful candidate will lead and continuously improve the firm’s tender and pitching activity, working closely with Partners and senior stakeholders across all practice areas. This role offers the opportunity to shape strategy, influence outcomes and see a clear connection between individual contribution and firm‑wide financial performance.
Bid Manager Key Responsibilities:
* Control, develop and manage Weightmans’ tender and pitching process in conjunction with Tender Managers and Business Development Executives.
* Act as a coach and mentor to those involved in tenders, pitches and presentations.
* Monitor resourcing for emerging bids and build intelligence on when key clients and prospects are likely to go out to tender.
* Develop and implement an effective bid process so that Partners understand procedures and available support.
* Create and maintain a knowledge bank of standard and frequently used bid content.
* Coordinate the production of all bids and pitches, including panel review activity.
* Manage bid and presentation content in line with Weightmans’ corporate standards.
* Work closely with the Business Development team to identify appropriate Partners and fee earners for each opportunity.
* Produce regular and ad hoc reports on bid and pitch performance, including wins, losses and new business enquiries.
* Conduct client feedback meetings to gather insight and inform continuous improvement.
* Track competitor activity and market intelligence.
* Support wider business development and marketing projects as required.
Bid Manager Skills & Experience:
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong experience in bid management and a genuine interest in bidding and pitching within a professional services environment. If you have experience of bidding within a Law Firm this would be advantageous.
Key requirements include:
* At least five years’ bid management experience in a B2B services environment, including a minimum of two years in professional services.
* Strong analytical skills with a high level of commercial awareness.
* A proactive, self‑starting approach, with the ability to develop ideas and solutions independently.
* Excellent project management, organisational and time management skills.
* Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to operate effectively at Partner level without direct line management responsibility.
* A confident, resilient and assertive communication style.
* Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
* Flexibility to travel between Weightmans offices and to client sites as required.
