How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Design Estimating Engineer

    Alloa (Full-time, office-based), Commutable from: Stirling, Falkirk, Tulibody, Clackmannan, Alva, Tillicoultry

    £50,000 - £60,000 + Company Car / £5,250 Allowance + Progression + Benefits + Training

    Are you a Design Engineer with experience in piling or geotechnical engineering looking to take the next step into a more commercially involved, client-facing role where you can influence projects from concept through to delivery?

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and growing specialist contractor operating within the ground engineering sector. The business has built a strong reputation for delivering complex foundation and piling solutions across a wide range of projects, and due to continued growth, they are now looking to bring in a Senior Design Estimating Engineer to strengthen their team.

    In this role, you will play a key part in both the technical and commercial aspects of projects, developing safe, efficient and cost-effective foundation solutions. You will be involved from initial enquiry and bid stage through to delivery, combining hands-on design work with estimating and client interaction.

    This position offers a great balance for someone looking to move beyond a purely technical role and gain more exposure to commercial decision-making and project strategy.

    The Role

    Deliver design and estimating for piling, foundations and ground improvement solutions across a range of projects
    Support work-winning activities, including tendering, bid strategy and client engagement from enquiry through to award
    Act as a technical point of contact, liaising with clients, consultants and internal teams while mentoring junior engineers

    The Person

    Background in piling, foundations or geotechnical design with strong technical understanding
    Exposure to estimating, tendering or commercial aspects of engineering projects (or a strong interest to develop in this area)
    Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with clients and stakeholders and working in a collaborative environment
