How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Complex Support Worker / Rehabilitation Assistant

    Location: Birmingham
Hours: Up to 12 hours per week
Schedule: Flexible hours, to be agreed around the young person’s needs and appointments

We are looking for a calm, reliable and emotionally mature Support Worker / Rehabilitation Assistant to support a teenage male with his ongoing rehabilitation, independence, emotional wellbeing and community access following a significant lower-limb injury and amputation.

This is a rewarding role supporting a young person to rebuild confidence, engage in meaningful activities and increase independence at a pace that feels safe and manageable for him.

The young person is currently progressing with prosthetic rehabilitation and may experience pain, fatigue and reduced motivation at times. The right person will be patient, encouraging and able to adapt support depending on how he is feeling on the day.

    Main duties will include:

Supporting community access and social inclusion

Encouraging confidence, independence and positive routines

Supporting emotional regulation and reassurance when needed

Helping the young person engage with hobbies and interests, including sport and social activities

Being mindful of pain, fatigue, mobility and falls risk

    Encouraging safe pacing during activities

Reporting any concerns promptly to family and the case manager

The successful candidate will need to be confident working with a young person who may have good and bad days due to pain, fatigue and emotional wellbeing. A calm, consistent and non-judgemental approach is essential.

This is not a clinical care role. You will not be expected to provide wound care, therapy or medical treatment. However, you must be observant, responsible and able to follow guidance from the family and professionals involved.

    Essential requirements:

Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals

    Calm, patient and reliable approach

    Strong communication skills

Ability to build trust and positive rapport

Awareness of safeguarding and professional boundaries

    Able to support community-based activities

    Desirable experience:

    Rehabilitation support

Brain injury, trauma, amputation or complex injury support

Mental health or emotional wellbeing support

Supporting young people with anxiety, low mood or reduced confidence

Physiotherapy or occupational therapy assistant experience

A driver with access to a vehicle would be beneficial due to the community-based nature of the role.

This role would suit someone who is compassionate, steady, confident and genuinely motivated to help a young person rebuild confidence, independence and quality of life.

All applicants will be subject to appropriate checks, references and compliance requirements before starting
