We are working on behalf of a well-established and growing civil engineering and groundworks contractor to recruit an experienced Buyer to join their team in the West Midlands.
Our client is a respected, family-run business delivering infrastructure, earthworks, and housing development packages for leading housebuilders and commercial clients across the UK. ()
The Role
As Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting the commercial and operational teams by ensuring the efficient procurement of materials, plant, and subcontract services across multiple projects.
Key responsibilities include:
* Procuring materials, plant, and subcontract packages in line with project requirements
* Negotiating with suppliers to secure best value and maintain strong relationships
* Managing supplier performance and maintaining an approved supply chain
* Working closely with commercial and site teams to support project delivery
* Monitoring market trends and identifying cost-saving opportunities
* Ensuring timely delivery of materials to meet programme deadlines
About You
We are looking for a commercially aware and organised individual with experience in a fast-paced construction environment.
You will ideally have:
* Proven experience as a Buyer within civils, groundworks, or construction
* Strong knowledge of materials and supply chain within housing or infrastructure projects
* Excellent negotiation and communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
* A proactive and detail-oriented approach
Location
This role is based in the South Mids, supporting projects across the Midlands and wider regions.
