Search Consultancy is looking for a versatile Plant Operator to join our busy construction and civils teams across Newcastle. We are partnering with Tier 1 contractors and local groundwork specialists who require expert operators capable of handling heavy machinery with precision and a strict focus on site safety.
If you are a Plant Operator who can move seamlessly between a 360 Excavator, Forward Tipping Dumper, Telehandler, or 180 (3CX), we have immediate starts and long-term runs of work available now.

The Role

* Machinery Operation: Safe and efficient operation of heavy plant, including 360 excavators (above/below 10t), forward tipping dumpers, telehandlers, and 180 (3CX) backhoes.
* Site Preparation: Executing tasks such as bulk earthworks, deep drainage excavations, foundation digging, and material movement.
* Technical Precision: Working to levels and following instructions from site engineers to ensure excavations and lifts are pinpoint accurate.
* Machine Maintenance: Conducting daily "walk-around" checks and basic maintenance to ensure all plant is in safe, working order before use.
* Safety Leadership: Maintaining a 360-degree field of vision and strictly adhering to site-specific traffic management plans and lifting plans.
* Versatility: Willingness to assist on the ground when the machine is not in use to keep project momentum high.

Requirements

* CPCS/NPORS Card: A valid CPCS or NPORS (with CSCS logo) card is mandatory for the relevant categories (360, Dumper, Telehandler, or 180).
* Experience: Proven track record operating heavy plant on busy commercial, industrial, or housing sites.
* Lifting Operations: CPCS "Lifting Operations" endorsement is highly desirable for 360 operators.
* Health & Safety: A thorough understanding of on-site safety protocols and the ability to work around live services.
* PPE: Standard 5-point PPE (Hard hat, high-vis, steel toe boots, gloves, and glasses).
* Right to Work: Must have a valid right to work in the UK.
