How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Within our Water Non‑Infrastructure (WNI) portfolio, you’ll provide senior technical leadership across major potable water treatment works and storage reservoir schemes throughout the Thames Valley. This role is ideal for an experienced civil engineer who thrives on technical challenge, governance, and influencing high‑value engineering outcomes.

Act as a trusted technical advisor to Project Managers, supporting governance, risk management, and Thames Water’s Client responsibilities under CDM 2015.
Review and assure designs, methodologies, and technical submissions — promoting safe, buildable, and sustainable solutions.
Identify and manage technical risk early, embedding value engineering and whole‑life thinking throughout delivery.
Provide technical assurance through design, construction, commissioning, and handover — ensuring assets are safe, compliant, and future‑ready.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of Technical Asset Standards and support capability development across teams.Working Location & Hours

A Civil Engineering qualification (Degree, HNC, or HND), with experience in structures, reservoirs, or similar heavy civil assets.
Strong understanding of construction health & safety, CDM Regulations, and Designer/Client responsibilities.
Experience developing, reviewing, and assuring engineering designs and technical solutions.
Confidence to influence, mentor, and make robust engineering decisions in complex environments.Chartered or working towards Chartered status is welcomed — but if you feel you meet most of the criteria, we’d still love to hear from you.
