How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Construction Teaching Assistant

    Specialist Secondary School (Boys – SEMH)

    Salary: H4 Scale – £26,215–£27,632 FTE
    Actual Salary: £19,393–£20,441 per annum (pro rata)
    Hours: 32 hours per week, term time
    Contract: Full-time (term time)
    Start Date: September 2026

    We are seeking a skilled, practical and motivated Construction Learning Support Assistant to join a forward‑thinking secondary day special school supporting boys with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

    The school has recently invested in a brand new, purpose‑built Construction Suite, making this a fantastic opportunity for someone with hands‑on construction experience who is passionate about working with young people and developing practical, vocational skills.

    The Role

    Working closely with teaching staff and vocational leads, you will:

    * Support pupils in a construction learning environment, including:

    * Painting and decorating

    * Bricklaying

    * General construction and practical trade skills

    * Provide hands‑on, practical learning support to individuals and small groups

    * Lead and support small group teaching sessions under the guidance of teaching staff

    * Help pupils develop employability skills, teamwork, confidence and resilience

    * Support positive behaviour, engagement and emotional regulation

    * Contribute to a well‑established Work Related Learning and Vocational Curriculum

    * Act as a positive role model within a high‑expectations, nurturing environment

    The Ideal Candidate Will:

    * Have practical experience in construction or a related trade

    * Be confident supporting or leading small group learning

    * Have experience working with young people with SEMH, emotional or behavioural needs (desirable but not essential)

    * Be patient, resilient and calm, with a firm but supportive approach

    * Be committed to helping pupils succeed through practical, real‑world learning

    * Be willing to engage in training and professional development
