This school is seeking a Secondary English Teacher who understands that strong literacy is built through deliberate practice, well‑modelled responses, and consistent feedback.
What Teaching English Looks Like Here
English teaching is not rushed. Lessons are carefully planned and intentionally paced. Reading is explicit. Writing is scaffolded before independence is expected.
You will teach KS3 and KS4, guiding students through:
Close reading and text interpretation
Vocabulary development and language choices
Clear paragraphing and extended responses
Exam‑ready structures without formulaic teaching
Your Responsibilitie
You will be responsible for:
Planning and delivering English lessons aligned to curriculum and exam expectations
Teaching reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills explicitly
Supporting students with written accuracy and expression
Assessing work regularly and providing actionable feedback
Identifying pupils who need further literacy support
Maintaining a calm, purposeful classroom environment
Working collaboratively within the English department
Structure, clarity, and consistency are valued here more than performance or novelty.
