As the HV Engineer you will work under the Contracts Engineer to ensure client requirements are met, all paperwork is technically sound and accurate and that onsite works are completed to our quality standards, ensuring the necessary dedicated labour revenue, efficiency & profit targets are met, whilst adhering to H & S principles and manage the team onsite, from delegation of tasks to performance & conduct issues to training & development needs.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, organisation, technical approval, and operational delivery of assigned works
Manage staff performance, behaviour, and wellbeing within your team
Take ownership of the onsite customer experience, ensuring client expectations are met or exceeded
Provide technical support to clients and the CRS, resolving queries and issues efficiently
Undertake site surveys at client request in line with RFQ procedures, collating all required information and feeding back to the CRS
Support the CRS with client queries, revisions, and amendments in a timely and professional manner
Effectively manage your time on site, delegating tasks where appropriate to allow availability for technical support
Ensure works are planned and organised in a timely manner, with teams fully prepared, including liaison with clients and subcontractors
Coordinate with the CRS to organise collection and delivery of materials and equipment, delegating where appropriate
Plan, manage, and oversee the successful, safe, and efficient execution of works
Undertake and manage electrical engineering works specific to client, site, and project requirements, including but not limited to:
Switching
Protection testing
Commissioning
Fault finding and diagnostics
Relay installations
HV cable testing
Ensure Toolbox Talks are delivered, and on‑site safety assessments are completed and communicated to the working party
Work in accordance with RAMS, problem‑solving with the client where deviations are absolutely necessary
Set teams to work safely with clear task delegation and adherence to health and safety requirements
Ensure all works are delivered safely, correctly, and cost‑effectively in line with company and client expectations
Ensure operational staff comply with all policies, procedures, and Electrical Safety Rules
Comply with Health & Safety policies and support both PTL and clients in achieving safe systems of work
Liaise with clients onsite to communicate progress, confirm requirements, and record any changes
Ensure any on‑site amendments and additional costs are communicated to the CRS
Manage suppliers, subcontractors, and materials effectively
Ensure all onsite documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted promptly to enable timely delivery to the client
Highlight and report defects to the CRS using appropriate systems, providing technical input where required
Attend and successfully complete all required training and development
Participate in call‑out duty as required
Skills and Experience
Electrical Engineering background (HNC or equivalent experience)
Experience with HV & LV Maintenance
Electrical Installation / Testing experience
18th Edition qualification
IOSH Managing Safely
Strong teamwork and collaboration
