How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Construction Manager

    Defence Sector | Full-time On-site | 9-Day Fortnight | Outside IR35 | Competitive Rate | SC Clearance Required

    The Opportunity

    We're recruiting an experienced Construction Manager to work full-time on-site at a defence sector facility. You'll be responsible for planning, managing and monitoring construction activities, ensuring safe, compliant and timely delivery across assigned projects.

    Contract Details: Outside IR35 | Competitive rate | Full-time on-site (07:30-17:30 daily) | 9-day working fortnight | Current SC clearance required 

    This role is for a construction professional with proven experience managing construction work on major projects. You'll work within a heavily regulated defence environment where safety, compliance and professional standards are paramount. You'll need current security clearance and the right construction management qualifications to start.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Construction Planning & Management

    Plan, manage and monitor construction work across assigned projects
    Establish and maintain construction schedules and milestones
    Coordinate work packages and manage dependencies
    Ensure timely delivery within budget and quality parameters
    Site Operations & Control

    Manage day-to-day site operations and activities
    Supervise construction teams and subcontractors
    Ensure compliance with site procedures and project requirements
    Monitor progress against plans and take corrective action as needed
    Safety & Compliance

    Ensure all construction work is carried out safely and in compliance with legislation and regulations
    Maintain and promote a strong safety culture on-site
    Conduct safety briefings and inductions
    Report and investigate incidents and near-misses
    Ensure compliance with defence sector and client-specific requirements
    Quality & Standards

    Ensure construction work meets quality standards and specifications
    Monitor workmanship and take action on defects or non-conformances
    Support quality assurance processes and inspections
    Maintain records and documentation to support project assurance
    Stakeholder & Client Liaison

    Work with project teams and client representatives
    Report on progress, issues and risks to project management
    Manage communications with subcontractors and site teams
    Ensure client requirements are understood and met

    About You

    Essential Qualifications & Requirements

    Current SC (Security Clearance) — you must hold valid clearance to be considered
    Site Manager or Construction Manager experience — proven track record managing construction work on major projects
    SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or NEBOSH Construction accreditation
    CSCS Managers Card with NVQ Level 6 Site Management or equivalent industry-recognised construction safety card (CCNSG Safety Passport or suitable equivalent)
    Extensive construction/build environment experience — demonstrable success planning, managing and monitoring construction work
    Strong knowledge of:

    Health and Safety legislation relevant to construction
    Defence sector security requirements and procedures
    Construction planning and programme management
    Quality standards and compliance requirements

    Leadership capability — comfortable directing and supervising construction teams and subcontractors
    Strong communication skills — confident engaging with project teams, clients and site personnel
    Safety and compliance focused — work with safety and regulatory requirements at the forefront
    Attention to detail — accuracy essential in construction management and documentation
    Highly motivated — takes ownership of construction delivery and site management
    Desirable

    Industry standard construction qualification — NVQ Level 6, ONC, HNC, HND, Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant discipline
    Additional NEBOSH or advanced safety qualification
    Experience on defence sector projects — familiarity with security requirements and regulated environments
    Experience on large, complex construction programmes
    Knowledge of construction techniques — Lean, value engineering or similar methodologies
    BIM or digital site management experience
