How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    MEP Commercial Director

    Building Services Contractor

    West Yorkshire

    Salary: £100,000+ plus package

    Our client is an established and growing Building Services Contractor looking to appoint an ambitious MEP Commercial Director to play a key role in the next phase of its growth.

    This is a senior commercial leadership role for a proven Building Services professional who can take ownership of the commercial function, manage a small team of QS’s and help drive performance across the business.

    The Role

    You will be responsible for leading the commercial operation across multiple MEP projects, ensuring strong financial control, sound contractual management and robust commercial performance. You will also take direct responsibility for the management, development and performance of a small team of Quantity Surveyors.

    This role is ideally suited to someone already operating as a Commercial Manager, or a high-calibre Senior Quantity Surveyor ready to step up into a broader leadership position.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

    Lead the commercial function across MEP projects

    *

    Manage and mentor a small team of Quantity Surveyors

    *

    Oversee contract negotiation, risk management and commercial strategy

    *

    Manage cost control, valuations, variations, forecasts and final accounts

    *

    Support operational teams to protect margin and improve project outcomes

    *

    Drive commercial best practice and accountability across the team

    *

    Contribute to wider business planning and long-term growth

    *

    Build strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners and internal stakeholders

    The Person

    *

    Strong background within Building Services / MEP contracting

    *

    Experience on large-scale projects is essential

    *

    Ideally Tier 1 or major MEP contractor background

    *

    Likely to be an existing Commercial Manager or an experienced Senior QS

    *

    Proven track record of commercial delivery

    *

    Previous experience managing or mentoring QS’s would be highly beneficial

    *

    Strong contractual and financial awareness

    *

    Ambitious and capable of operating as part of a senior leadership team
