We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with severe and complex needs. This role involves working closely with students who may have a combination of learning difficulties, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and/or medical needs. You will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop communication skills, and achieve greater independence in a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Assist with personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and mobility, where required
Support communication using strategies such as PECS, Makaton, or assistive technology
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver personalised learning
Promote positive behaviour using consistent and supportive approaches
Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual needs
Ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Support pupils during transitions, therapy sessions, and off-site activities where applicable
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Experience working with children or young people with severe and complex needs (desirable but not essential)
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
The ability to remain resilient in challenging situations
A willingness to support personal care needs
Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Health & Social Care, or equivalent) are advantageous
