How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job Title: Trainee Metrology Engineer (Quality Department)

Location: Stourbridge (Must be able to drive or live local due to start times)

    Hours: 06:00 - 15:00 Monday to Friday

Optional Overtime: Saturday & Sunday daytime

    Pay Rate: £10 - £12.71 per hour

    Contract: Full-time, Temp to Perm

Metrology Engineer Trainee - but what does it actually take to succeed in this kind of role?

First and foremost, you'll need to be confident with mathematics. This is a highly technical position where you'll be working with measurements, calculations, percentages, and detailed data, so being comfortable with numbers is essential.

This opportunity is particularly well suited to a college leaver looking to take their first step into engineering or manufacturing.

    The Role

We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual who wants to learn and develop within the world of metrology. You'll gain hands-on experience with advanced measurement technologies while supporting engineering and quality teams.

    Key Responsibilities

Assist with dimensional inspections using metrology equipment such as 3D scanners, ZEISS Inspect software, and handheld tools
Support scanning processes, including data capture, processing, and alignment
Learn how to analyse scan data and compare it against CAD models and technical drawings
Help produce clear and accurate inspection reports
Work alongside engineering and quality teams to identify issues and support root cause analysis
Assist with maintaining and calibrating metrology equipment (under supervision)
Follow company quality standards, procedures, and safety guidelines
Take part in ongoing training and development to build your technical skillset

    What We're Looking For

A solid foundation in mathematics from school or college
A strong willingness to learn new technologies and software
High attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset
Basic IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office)
Ability to read technical drawings is beneficial, but not essential

    The Ideal Candidate

A curious, proactive individual who enjoys working with technology and has a genuine interest in precision engineering. If you're looking to build a long-term career in metrology and analysis, this is a great place to start.
