How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    My well-established Engineering client based in Reading is looking to recruit a Machine Operator on a temp-perm basis (typically over 3 months). Candidates will have previous engineering / manufacturing experience and be familiar with engineering practices, machine health & safety and equipment.
    The role is starting immediately after successful interview so please only apply if you are available to start immediately or within a week from an offer.
    Responsibilities:
    * Operate engineering machinery to produce metal parts/products - CNC perforating presses
    * Be responsible for the quality of parts produced and ensure they conform to company standards and product drawings.
    * Run machines to achieve cycle times as recorded on the route cards.
    * Assist Setter/Team Leader in improving changeover times, machine running efficiencies and tooling set ups.
    * Transportation of goods within the factory, assisting with stock checks and general housekeeping within the manufacturing site.
    Ideal Candidate:
    * Experience operating machines within an engineering or manufacturing environment (CNC or manual machinery).
    * Have general engineering knowledge and experience of Machine operating and/or setting.
    * Experience in quality checking of parts using micrometres / vernier calipers.
    * Experience working a permanent nightshift.
    This role is offered on a permanent night shift working Sunday - Thursday nights 22.00 - 06.00. A competitive hourly rate of £16.14 per hour is on offer for the successful candidate which equates to a salary of £33,571 per annum. In addition, once permanent - Profit related pay (approx 25%) and a monthly production bonus (5%) give an additional £8-10k per year giving a total annual earnings of between £41-44k per annum.
