The Opportunity
NEOS Engineering Recruitment are working with a leading earthworks contractor delivering major UK infrastructure projects.
They’re looking for a Service Manager to take full ownership of plant maintenance, compliance, and fleet performance across a large earthmoving fleet.
This is a business-critical role, keeping machines running and projects moving.
The Role
Drive plant availability through PPM and maintenance strategies
Balance reactive vs preventative maintenance
Lead and manage engineers, fitters, and inspectors
Ensure compliance with PUWER, LOLER, DVSA & OEM standards
Control budgets, parts spend, and lifecycle costs
Manage OEMs, suppliers, and service providers
Report on uptime, reliability, and performance
You’ll sit between plant, ops, and commercial — making sure everything works.
The Candidate
Background in heavy plant / earthmoving equipment
Experience as a Service Manager, Workshop Manager, or similar
Strong knowledge of maintenance strategies & compliance
Proven team leadership across workshop & field
Commercially aware — costs, budgets, lifecycle
Comfortable with CMMS systems and reporting
