How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Company
Our client is a well-established manufacturer operating within the aerospace sector, based in Basildon, Essex. They produce high-precision components to the exacting standards required by the aerospace industry, and are currently seeking an experienced CNC Turner Programmer to join their skilled engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a technically demanding environment on cutting-edge CNC turning machinery, contributing to the manufacture of aerospace-grade components.

    The Role
As CNC Turner Programmer, you will be responsible for the programming, setting, and operating of CNC lathe machinery. You will work across two key platforms:

FANUC Lathe - 2-Axis with Live Tooling
⦁ Programming and operating a 2-axis FANUC CNC lathe equipped with live tooling capabilities.
⦁ Writing and editing programs directly at the machine as required.
⦁ Setting tooling, offsets, and work-holding to achieve precise component dimensions.
⦁ Utilising live tooling to perform milling and drilling operations in a single set-up.

    Mazatrol 5-Axis Turning Centre
⦁ Programming and operating a Mazatrol 5-axis turning centre for complex, multi-face machining.
⦁ Using the Mazatrol conversational programming system to develop and refine part programs.
⦁ Machining complex aerospace components requiring tight tolerances and superior surface finishes.
⦁ Performing multi-axis turning, milling, drilling, and threading operations in single set-ups.

    Key Responsibilities
⦁ Program, set, and operate FANUC and Mazatrol CNC lathes to produce aerospace components.
⦁ Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to produce accurate programs.
⦁ Perform first-off inspections and in-process quality checks to ensure parts meet required tolerances.
⦁ Identify and resolve machining issues, optimising feeds, speeds, and tooling as required.
⦁ Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment in line with company standards.
⦁ Collaborate with the wider engineering and production teams to meet output and quality targets.
⦁ Complete all relevant documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
⦁ Adhere to all health, safety, and quality procedures relevant to the aerospace manufacturing environment.

    Skills & Experience Required
⦁ Proven experience as a CNC Turner Programmer in a precision manufacturing environment.
⦁ Demonstrable experience programming and operating FANUC CNC lathes, including live tooling.
⦁ Experience with Mazatrol programming on multi-axis turning centres.
⦁ Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T.
⦁ Strong understanding of cutting tools, tooling inserts, and machining best practices.
⦁ Experience working to tight tolerances in a quality-controlled environment.
⦁ Knowledge of aerospace or similar high-precision manufacturing standards is advantageous.
⦁ Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
⦁ Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

    What's on Offer
⦁ Competitive pay rate of up to £21.50 per hour.
⦁ Work within a specialist aerospace manufacturing environment.
⦁ Opportunity to operate advanced, industry-leading CNC machinery.
⦁ Supportive team environment with a focus on quality and precision.
⦁ Based in Basildon, Essex - conveniently located with good transport links.
