How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

    Job Title – Electrical Maintenance Engineer
    Location – Thrapston, Northamptonshire
    Salary – £46,000 – £50,000 + Bonus (up to 10%)
    Shift – 2 Days / 2 Nights / 4 Off (42 hours per week)

    Job Role of the Electrical Maintenance Engineer

    A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a highly automated, fast-paced manufacturing facility within a globally recognised packaging business. This site is part of a large international group and offers excellent job security, structured processes, and long-term career stability.

    Working within a well-established engineering team, you will predominantly focus on electrical fault finding and maintenance across a range of modern production machinery. This is an ideal role for an engineer who enjoys autonomy, problem-solving, and working in a technically challenging environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Carrying out reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on site machinery
    Diagnosing and resolving electrical faults efficiently to minimise downtime
    Working on a variety of equipment including corrugators, conveyors, packaging machines, palletisers and cutting machinery
    Electrical fault finding on control circuits, PLCs, drives, inverters, motors and sensors
    Supporting mechanical fault finding when required (gearboxes, bearings, belts, chains, hydraulics and pneumatics)
    PLC fault finding (Siemens S7 & Allen Bradley – fault finding only)
    Working closely with the engineering team, team leaders and planners to maintain site performance
    Ensuring all work is completed in line with health & safety and site standards

    Sector – Factory Maintenance (Packaging / FMCG)

    Non-Negotiable Requirements

    Electrical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent / Naric approved)
    Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment

    Desirable Requirements

    Experience within packaging, paper, or high-speed manufacturing environments
    Experience working with Siemens S7 or Allen Bradley PLCs
