How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    R&D Test and Validation Engineer

    Stamford, PE9

    Full-time - 37.5 hours per week

    Contract - 12 months - Hybrid working

    We're seeking a skilled Powertrain Test & Validation Engineer (Power Electronics + Motor/Generator) to provide on-site technical support for the development and validation of electric powertrain systems.

    You will play an important part in the Powertrain design team and the test facility, combining hands-on test execution with product validation, data analysis, and issue resolution to ensure robust validation of next-generation electric powertrains.

    Travel between Stamford & Nottingham test sites is required.

    R&D Test and Validation Engineer Shifts:

    · Monday to Friday

    · Flexible office hours

    R&D Test and Validation Engineer Rate of Pay:

    · £16.41 - £28.21 per hour

    R&D Test and Validation Engineer Responsibilities:

    · Manage daily powertrain (PE + MG) test cell activities, including test setup, execution, and data collection

    · Develop and execute test procedures for electrical validation of powertrain systems

    · Collaborate with Power Electronics and Motor/Generator design teams to define validation requirements and test plans

    · Investigate and resolve system/component issues, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions to closure

    · Analyse and correlate test and simulation data (e.g. using MATLAB, Ansys) and generate clear technical reports and review presentations

    · Support test facility setup, instrumentation, data acquisition, and troubleshooting

    · Ensure data quality and manage hardware changes and spare parts in coordination with component owners and materials teams

    · Apply structured problem-solving methods (e.g. Fault Tree Analysis) with support from subject matter experts where needed

    R&D Test and Validation Engineer Requirements:

    · Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.

    · Experience in a powertrain or electrical testing environment (Power Electronics + Motor/Generator strongly preferred)

    · Hands-on component validation, failure analysis, and issue resolution experience

    · Proficient with data acquisition systems, data processing, and analysis

    · Automotive or heavy-duty industry background preferred but not essential

    · Strong ability to interpret test requirements, set up instrumentation, and deliver high-quality test data

    · Confident in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint

    · Experience using systems such as MATLAB / Simulink, Ansys, PCAN (or equivalent CAN tools)
