How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An innovative engineering organisation is seeking a skilled Prototype Wire Person to support the development of cutting-edge electronic and mechanical systems.

    Working at the interface between Engineering and Production, you’ll play a key role in building, wiring, and modifying prototypes in a fast-paced R&D environment. This is a hands-on position suited to someone with strong practical skills and a passion for high-quality assembly work.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Carry out prototype wiring and cable assembly, including soldering, crimping, and harnessing
    • Assemble mechanical and electromechanical components from drawings and schematics
    • Interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs)
    • Build and modify prototypes during development phases
    • Perform rework and implement design changes as required
    • Conduct basic inspection and testing (e.g. Continuity checks)
    • Ensure all work meets quality standards (e.g. IPC-A-610 / IPC-A-620)
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve build and design issues
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace
    • Follow production documentation including job cards, test plans, and process instructions
    • Support documentation activities such as writing or updating SOPs where required

    About You

    Essential Skills & Experience:

    • Proven experience in wiring, cable assembly, or electromechanical assembly
    • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
    • Skilled in soldering, crimping, and bench assembly techniques
    • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
    • Good manual dexterity and practical problem-solving skills
    • Able to work independently and as part of a team
    • Eligible to obtain UK security clearance

    Desirable:

    • Experience in prototype or R&D environments
    • Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-610 / IPC/WHMA-A-620)
    • Basic electrical testing knowledge (e.g. Multimeters, continuity testing)
    • Mechanical assembly experience (fasteners, torque, alignment)
    • Surface mount experience
