Long Term Futures are recruiting a committed and adaptable Pastoral Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join a large secondary school in Hackney, supporting students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
This is a varied role combining pastoral support and classroom-based learning support, ideal for someone confident working with students who require additional support with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health), behaviour and special educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for students with SEMH, behaviour and SEN needs
Support pupils both in lessons and during unstructured times
Assist teachers with lesson delivery and classroom management
Implement behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
Work closely with pastoral teams, SEN staff and Heads of Year
Promote engagement, inclusion and positive behaviourIdeal Candidate Will Have:
Experience supporting students with SEMH, behaviour or SEN needs
Confidence working in a secondary school environment
A calm, resilient and consistent approach
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice
Background in mentoring, youth work or education (desirable)Location & Transport - Hackney, East London
