How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH Provision

Location: Rural School 8 miles from Kings Lynn, Norfolk

    Contract: Term‑time, contract

    About the setting

We are recruiting on behalf of a small nurturing primary academy that places relationships, inclusion and emotional wellbeing at the heart of everything it does. The school is committed to supporting the whole child, creating a calm and supportive environment where pupils feel secure, trusted and valued.

The setting works closely with children who experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, providing structured support that helps pupils re‑engage with learning, develop emotional regulation skills and build positive relationships. Inclusion is central to the school’s ethos, with a strong belief that every child should be supported to participate, belong and succeed.

    The role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be a consistent and reassuring presence for pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide tailored support that enables pupils to feel safe, calm and ready to learn.

This role is ideal for someone who understands that behaviour is a form of communication and who can respond with empathy, structure and patience.

    Key responsibilities

Providing 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEMH needs

Supporting emotional regulation, self‑esteem and positive behaviour for learning

Implementing personalised strategies in line with individual support plans

Helping to maintain a predictable, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment

Working collaboratively with staff to ensure pupils feel supported throughout the school day

Encouraging positive relationships, resilience and engagement in learning

    We’re looking for someone who…

Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs

Is calm, compassionate and able to build strong, trusting relationships

Understands the importance of consistency, routine and emotional safety

Can use restorative, trauma‑informed or nurturing approaches

Works well as part of a supportive, reflective team

Has a background in education, care, youth work or similar (desirable, not essential)

    Why apply?

Join a small school that genuinely values inclusion, wellbeing and whole‑child development

Be part of a team that celebrates progress, effort and individuality

Work in a setting that prioritises emotional safety alongside academic learning

Make a meaningful difference to children who need stability and understanding most

If you are passionate about supporting children with SEMH needs and want to work in a school where values, care and relationships come first, we would love to hear from you
