How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Mobile Working Engineering Supervisor for it’s Facilities Management segment based out of Bedford.

    Reporting to the Contract Manager, you will be expected to take responsibility for the supervision and operational delivery of a number of schools As part of this role, you will be required to work flexible hours and complete a variety of tasks related to this role to ensure the continued smooth operation of the FM business. The role requires you to directly supervise operatives, work closely with clients, and effectively manage subcontractors and colleagues. You will be expected to demonstrate strong teamwork, clear communication, and the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships. We are seeking a multiskilled Working Supervisor with a plumbing/gas bias who can take ownership of a key client, act as the first point of contact for all queries, and oversee the raising and vetting of quotes. The successful candidate will also be responsible for delivering both PPMs and reactive maintenance while continuing to strengthen and develop the client relationship through proactive engagement and high‑quality service delivery, whilst attending client meetings with the contracts manager.

    Making Possible

    Overseeing and undertaking Planned Preventative Maintenance and completion of the appropriate paperwork and reports, whilst ensuring remedial actions are notified to the client and completed in a timely manner.

    Overseeing and undertaking reactive, emergency breakdowns tasks and minor project works, ensuring works are completed safely to regulations and including completion of the associated paperwork.

    Line management responsibility for a team of engineers and skilled operatives, ensuring that all staff complete required e‑learning and mandatory training and that training records are kept fully up to date.

    Working in partnership with the Helpdesk to ensure that resources are allocated correctly.

    Being on a call out escalation rota to provide the client with full out of hours cover.

    Assisting the team when required or as directed from the Contract Manager.

    Ensuring that all tasks are completed within the contractual time scales and works are audited where required.

    Review engineer‑completed RAMS to ensure they are thorough, accurately completed, and identify all relevant site hazards. Oversee and approve subcontractor RAMS in line with BAM’s contractor‑management procedures, ensuring all required documentation and supporting paperwork are completed and maintained.

    Ensure all site‑specific risk assessments are kept up to date, accurate, and fully reflective of current site conditions and activities.

    Proactively reduce energy consumption on site.

    Overseeing visiting sub-contractors with regards to standard of work and Health and Safety.

    Adopting a flexible attitude in relation to assisting on other properties within the BAM FM portfolio.

    Carrying out all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.

    Understanding and completing all work related documentation accurately and on time.

    Undertake additional duties in line with capabilities as required.

    Complying with all Health and Safety policies and procedures.

    Carrying out work in a safe and diligent manner.

    Conduct routine audits on engineers to monitor performance and compliance, ensuring all audit outcomes are documented appropriately.

    Ensure that detailed records are created for the statutory testing, inspections and record keeping.

    Responsibility for the implementation of Health and Safety, quality, environmental system requirements ensuring compliance with all legislation and BAM FM policy and procedures.

    What do you bring to the role?

    Experience of electrical/mechanical maintenance, testing & fault finding on a variety of equipment including air conditioning, plumbing, boiler plant, ventilation, pumps, generators, switchgear, cables, batteries, small power and lighting (where applicable).

    Building Management System (BMS) Experience & Troubleshooting

    Experience of working within a mobile service delivery contract.

    Strong work ethic, honesty and reliability

    Confidence in working independently

    An understanding of Service Level Agreements (SLA’s), service targets and objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and ability to interpret management information.

    Knowledge of Health & Safety and safe working practices.

    Excellent communication skills.

    Supervisory management experience (desirable)

    Proactive approach.

    Able to anticipate and/or diagnose and repair faults.

    Capable of completing essential paperwork in accurate and timely manner.

    Computer literate and competent in using electronic devices (Knowledge of Concept desirable)

    Full UK Drivers licence

    Excellent customer service skills

    Enhanced DBS check will be required

    Ability to understand and work to the BAM values

    Level 3 NVQ / Diploma – Industrial & Commercial Plumbing/Heating

    G3 unvented hot water qualifications

    Legionella responsible person ( Desirable )

    IOSH Managing safely

    Domestic and Commercial gas ( Desirable )
