How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Digital Forensic Administrator

    Looking for an admin role where you can make a real impact on policing services?

    The Digital Forensic Administrator role sits within the Digital Forensic Unit (DFU), part of Protective Services Crime at West Yorkshire Police, based at Calder Park in Wakefield. The DFU plays a critical role in supporting the investigation of serious and complex crime through the management and examination of digital evidence.

    This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to join a specialist unit that operates at the heart of modern policing. The post holder will provide essential administrative support to digital forensic practitioners, helping to ensure the smooth and efficient handling of digital exhibits and enquiries. While challenging and demanding, the role offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute directly to frontline policing and the criminal justice process.

    Key duties and responsibilities:

    • Accurately logging all exhibits onto the Digital Forensic Unit case management system
    • Ensuring the correct, secure storage and handling of digital exhibits in line with policies and procedures
    • Managing and responding to enquiries made to the Digital Forensic Unit
    • Assisting colleagues to maximise the efficiency and evidential potential of submissions to the unit
    • Supporting the archiving and deletion of digital data in accordance with departmental procedures and statutory regulations
    • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with data protection and evidential standards
    • Supporting the overall administrative function of the DFU to ensure continuity of service
    • Travel between Digital Forensic laboratories across West Yorkshire, depending on operational requirements.

    Expectations:

    To succeed in this role, you will be expected to:
    • Have previous experience working in an administrative role
    • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of, and ability to operate, a range of computer packages
    • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Show strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads and priorities effectively
    • Be flexible in your approach to working hours to meet the needs of the department
    • Ideally hold a full current UK or European driving licence and be willing and able to travel for business purposes
