How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Cover Supervisor

    Location: Rainham, London
    Contract: Temporary

    About the Role

    Choice Teachers, a specialist education recruitment agency, is seeking confident, adaptable and proactive Cover Supervisors to work across a range of secondary schools in and around Rainham, London.

    As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into classrooms during teacher absences, delivering pre-prepared lesson materials, maintaining positive classroom behaviour, and ensuring pupils remain focused and engaged in their learning. This is a varied and rewarding role, offering exposure to different school environments and student needs.

    You’ll benefit from a flexible working pattern, gain valuable hands-on experience in education, and build strong classroom management skills. This opportunity is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals passionate about supporting young people in an educational setting.

    Key Responsibilities

    Supervise classes across a range of subjects in the absence of the class teacher
    Deliver pre-set lesson plans and activities
    Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a safe, productive learning environment
    Support students with their work and encourage engagement
    Always follow school policies and safeguarding procedures
    Essential Qualifications & Requirements

    Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
    Degree or Level 3 qualification (desirable but not essential)
    Experience working with children or young people in any setting (e.g. schools, tutoring, coaching, youth work)
    Strong communication and behaviour management skills
    A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
    Right to work in the UK
    Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to different school environments
