How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

The starting salary for this position is £42,239 per annum, working 36 hours per week (pro rata for part time).

We are excited to be hiring a new Social Worker to join our fantastic East 2 Area team covering Elmbridge, Mole Valley and Epsom but with a hybrid work style consisting of remote working and two days in the office (pro-rata). We are proud to consider ourselves a forward thinking, motivational team with a strong ethos of cultural growth and continuous education and learning. We are looking for individuals who share our values and are motivated to make a significant and positive difference to the lives of our residents.

We've recently restructured and are launching an exciting new way of working - and this is your chance to be part of it from the very start. You'll have real influence in shaping practice, building strong team cultures and helping us deliver a values-driven, strengths-based service that truly puts residents first. Our new operating model brings together Connect to Community (C2C) and Area Teams, creating a seamless journey for residents:

Our C2C Teams act as the first point of response, providing urgent assessments, safeguarding, and support planning.
Our Area Teams offer continuity for those with longer-term or complex needs, focusing on proactive case management and person-centred care.

Our new operating model is designed to cut down on unnecessary bureaucracy and increase meaningful time with people in their communities, focusing on what really matters: listening, building relationships and creating solutions that work.

We're proud to offer flexible working, giving you the freedom to work in ways that suit your life while staying connected to supportive, high-performing teams. Everything we do is guided by our values - collaboration, respect and ambition for our residents - and we're looking for people who share our values and are motivated to make a significant and positive difference to the lives of our residents. If you want to be part of a service that's growing, evolving and committed to doing things differently, this is the place to build your next chapter.

    Our Offer to You

26 days' holiday, rising to 28 days after 2 years' service and 31 days after 5 years' service
Option to buy up to 10 days of additional annual leave
A generous local government salary related pension
Up to 5 days of carer's leave and 2 paid volunteering days per year
    Paternity, adoption and dependents leave
An Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to support health and wellbeing
Learning and development hub where you can access a wealth of resources
Wellbeing and lifestyle discounts including gym, travel, and shopping
A chance to make a real difference to the lives of our residents

    About our Team

We are a large team that support individuals across community and hospital settings. We celebrate diversity and believe that differences make us stronger. Our East 2 Area team supports those from the age of 18 upwards with eligible care support needs. We provide advice and guidance with a vast range of community resources and support networks. The team strives to safeguard those who require additional support whilst promoting independence and choice. You will always find our team friendly and approachable, whilst supporting each other with an active reflective and learning culture.

    About the Role

As a Social Worker in Surrey, you will work across various unique projects that ensure that the people we support can enjoy a home of their own, an environment in which they are supported to live a healthy and meaningful lifestyle.

You will be able to supervise less experienced members of staff within the team and support their development. In return for all your skills, enthusiasm and commitment we will support you to take your career to the next level. In turn, you will receive professional supervision and be working in a team of motivated, dedicated and friendly colleagues.

    Shortlisting Criteria

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours:

Professional qualification in Social Work and current registration with Social Work England.
Successful completion of an Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme if qualified as a social worker after June 2012.
Experience in Social Work, including assessment and risk management skills.
Commitment to your own professional development, including maintaining up-to-date knowledge of practice issues.

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and locality based social care workers will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK and access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area. Reasonable adjustments where needed will be made for successful applicants who have a disability or long-term health condition to enable them to fulfil the requirements of the job.

Before submitting your application, we recommend you read the job description & Our Life at Surrey handbook to get an insight into working at Surrey.

An enhanced DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be required for this role.
