How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    James Ray Recruitment is seeking a committed and resilient SEMH Secondary Teacher to work within an Alternative Provision setting in the Wirral.

    This is a rewarding opportunity to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them re-engage with education in a structured, supportive, and nurturing environment.

    About the Role

    As an SEMH Teacher, you will deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to secondary-aged students who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education. You will play a key role in supporting both academic progress and emotional development.

    Working within a specialist Alternative Provision setting, you will help create a safe, consistent, and positive learning environment where students can rebuild confidence and achieve success.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Plan and deliver tailored lessons to meet individual learning needs

    * Support students with SEMH needs, promoting positive behaviour strategies

    * Build strong, trusting relationships with students

    * Manage behaviour effectively using de-escalation techniques

    * Work collaboratively with support staff, SENCOs, and external professionals

    * Track and monitor student progress, both academically and socially

    * Create a structured and engaging classroom environment

    What We’re Looking For

    * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent

    * Experience working with SEMH, SEN, or challenging behaviour

    * Strong behaviour management and emotional resilience

    * Ability to build rapport with disengaged or vulnerable learners

    * Flexible, patient, and empathetic approach

    * A genuine passion for supporting students who need additional guidance

    Experience within Alternative Provision or PRU settings is highly desirable but not essential.
