How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    GSL Education London Branch are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced Geography Subject Leader to join a thriving coeducational secondary school and sixth form in Hackney. This is a fantastic role for a passionate and ambitious Geography Subject Leader who is ready to inspire students and lead a successful department.

    As a Geography Subject Leader, you will play a key role in shaping the curriculum, driving high standards of teaching and learning, and supporting both students and staff to achieve their full potential. The school has a strong community feel and is committed to academic excellence, making it an ideal environment for a dedicated Geography Subject Leader.

    This role is perfect for a motivated Geography Subject Leader who is eager to lead, innovate, and make a real difference in students’ educational journeys. The successful Geography Subject Leader will benefit from excellent leadership support and opportunities for professional development.

    Responsibilities:

    Lead and manage the Geography department as a Geography Subject Leader
    Plan and deliver engaging and high-quality Geography lessons across KS3–KS5
    Develop and implement a strong and inclusive Geography curriculum
    Monitor student progress and raise attainment levels
    Support and mentor Geography teachers within the department
    Organise field trips and enrichment activities to enhance learning
    Ensure high standards of behaviour and classroom management
    Contribute to whole-school improvement as a Geography Subject Leader
    Requirements:

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    Proven experience teaching Geography at secondary level
    Previous experience in a leadership role or readiness to step up as a Geography Subject Leader
    Strong subject knowledge and passion for Geography
    Excellent communication and organisational skills
    Ability to inspire and motivate students and staff
    Commitment to continuous professional development
