How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Due to increased pupil numbers, the school is expanding its support team and is looking for resilient, proactive and compassionate individuals who can support pupils both academically and emotionally.

This role goes beyond traditional classroom support — you will play a key part in pastoral care, behaviour support and mentoring, helping pupils regulate emotions, engage in learning and develop positive relationships.

The school provides a structured and supportive environment with a strong focus on personal development, behaviour support and preparing pupils for future success.

Benefits of working as a Teaching Assistant:
    • Opportunity to work in a specialist SEMH setting
    • Be part of a supportive and experienced team
    • Play a key role in pupils’ emotional and educational development
    • Varied role combining classroom and pastoral support
    • Potential for long-term or permanent opportunities

    Job requirements:
    • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
    • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
    • Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH
    • Experience supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups
    • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
    • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with pupils
    • Understanding of safeguarding and SEN practices
    • Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service
    • Ability to provide 24 months of recent references
    • Available for immediate or September start

    Role responsibilities:
    • Provide 1:1, small group and classroom support
    • Support pupils with challenging behaviour and emotional regulation
    • Act as a key worker for designated pupils
    • Deliver targeted interventions to support learning and wellbeing
    • Support pupils during lessons, breaktimes and transitions
    • Assist with behaviour plans, IEPs and progress tracking
    • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and families
    • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies
    • Promote a safe, structured and positive learning environment

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and committed Teaching Assistant who thrives in a challenging but highly rewarding environment and is passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs.
